I’m sick, but I’m happy
I’m getting over 5 weeks of being sick — tired, congested, a flu-like lingering thing that’s finally lifting.
I’m happy tho!
Because even though I don’t feel well, I can still handle life and work.
My day job is coaching managers to improve business systems.
The past few years have been rough — lots of work with many 2-week long night shifts and weekly travel across the US.
The odd hours, jet lag, and travel flip my world upside down, and leave me exhausted mentally and physically.
This eventually took its toll recently. I’ve been sick over the last 5 weeks, through the holidays, over New Year’s.
Yes, even good diets and regular exercise don’t make you indestructible.
BUT I’M HAPPY THAT …
The good news is that I can still handle life’s challenges.
My diet routine is high-protein and high-fat meals twice daily, and I don’t need to snack. I get seven hours of sleep on average too.
Even though I’m ill, I can take care of my family and show up for work.
It isn’t great, but I’m quite functional.
I REMEMBER 100 POUNDS AGO …
Years ago, massively overweight, I struggled to walk down the street.
I’d sit in my own sweat during summers, with no energy to get off the couch to play with my kids.
There’s no way on earth that I’d be able to survive my busy life today.
I’m not perfect. Life isn’t always easy. But a nutritious diet and regular strength training make things a kajillion times better.
I want you to have that resilience too.
