I really enjoyed working with Lisa over four months.  She customized a program that worked based on the goals I wanted to achieve, and incorporated modifications as needed along the way. 

The app we used showed demo videos, gave instructions, and captured my responses after the exercise. This was a great way for us to communicate about what worked well and the challenges I faced so she could make adjustments for the next workout.

“I was able to increase core and upper body strength, and continue to get stronger long after working with Lisa”

I wanted to work with Lisa predominantly to increase my core and upper body strength. Before I started working with Lisa, I could not do more than 1 or 2 push-ups and had very little upper body strength. 

Each week, we would meet to go thru new movements and techniques and she would tailor an increasingly challenging workout to focus on these areas.  She would check in regarding my progress and encourage/make changes where necessary.

At the end of 2 months of training, I held a plank position for over a minute and do three sets of 10 push-ups.  It was a great program to kick-start my goals of increased core and upper body strength and helped alleviate my lower back pain as well!

Overweight at 64, Low Hope, No Time.
I was Good at TAking Care of Others But Not Myself, Until …

I was overweight, my knees and hip joints ached, and I felt my muscles becoming weaker as each year went by. I turned 64 last May. I wondered if I could even begin to reverse the toll that my lack of physical activity had taken on my body. Even if I could, How would I find the time?

I was not used to the idea that I needed to take care of “me” first to really be able to take care of others. Lisa reminded me of the spiel given by flight attendants when they say, “Should the cabin lose pressure, oxygen masks will drop from the overhead area. Please place the mask over your own mouth and nose before assisting others.” Wow! I finally got it!

Unless I began to take care of myself, I might not be capable of helping others!

She encouraged me to start a workout routine, and I started in June, three days a week. It was difficult, especially at first! But Lisa’s confidence in me convinced me that I could do it. I remember telling her after especially challenging workouts, “I didn’t die.”

I was lifting weights, I was getting stronger, I was building muscle, and I was doing planks! Planks! I can’t thank Lisa enough for her help and encouragement! I look forward to seeing what this year brings! Thank you, Lisa!
